A passage

I was told by a friend of mine they banned 1984 from the school reading list. It is in our classic literature such as Ayn Ryan's work, George Orwell's work, Alas Babylon, To Kill a Mockingbird, Wuthering Heights, and so many more that we learn about human nature. We learn about the ideas before us that has shaped the world. So how can someone ban a book that is crucial to understand our lives?

I have included this short audio clip from the book. Listen and see what you think.

  1. The problem with Orwell's "1984" is that it is too close to home, much too similar to what is happening today. Being socialist/communist, teachers and their unions cannot allow such thinking to be seen for what it is: an attack on their beliefs and the system they advocate. A few other books we can look to be abnned are such as Fahrenheit 459, Atlas Shrugged and Alas Babylon (as you noted). Look for them to quickly disappear. Another you can look around for is a King James Bible: if it's still on the shelves, many pages will be cut/torn out.
