I was watching television, and as I flipped through the channels, I saw a commercial from Sesame Street telling kids/parents to go their site to learn more about preparing for emergencies.
I know it bad when the govt tells you to prepare, but when Sesame Street is promoting workshops and site material on this... I am just left with my mouth wide open.
I have included the site address given by the commercial, and some other links of interest, which includes a neat blog I found (Third Link.)
http://www.sesamestreet.org/ready/
http://www.sesameworkshop.org/initiatives/emotion/ready
http://incaseofemergencyblog.com/2008/09/29/grover-sesame-street-what-should-we-tell-the-publicnational-preparedness-month/
http://www.ready.gov/
If you get a chance to watch the video on the Sesame Street Site, it actually highlights on the important things and is somewhat thorough; however some parts are kind of annoying and obviously for little children(But you can skip forward during those parts.)

Keeping it together
Even though cleaning and keeping things organized seems like a chore, it is a great thing for the mind. It saves headache and stress when you are trying to find something, as well as, being easier to think and get what you need done when you need to do it. So, I have included some links about organization that may help you.
It is good to have a emergency leave the house kit/box. If for some reason, God forbid, you have to escape your house from fire or any other natural disaster, you want to have all your important paperwork together (eg. birth certificate, social security, etc.)It does not have to be anything fancy, but we are a paper based society, so without your documents, it would be difficult to claim who you are. It's like a first aid kit for your identity.

Read it
I found this blog post titled Working Hard or Hardly Working. The blogger brings up some good points about working these days and what to expect.
Revamp
Over the next week or two, I shall revamping this blog. I plan to give a new face, perhaps edit/ combine some previous posts, and put up more links.
I know my writing tends to be a bit haphazard, but anything I put up is something I feel people need to know.
Going with that theme, I tell you that right now it nearly March. It is not too late to put your gardens, and practice you skills. If the economic trend continues, you will need these skills. Right now things are still floating, so it gives you this planting season to practice a little bit.
on the new
We see and hear on the news the government, the president, and the media are all calling crisis. They all have been telling us to prepare. We read on the news that the military is being trained to handle riots and civil unrest. Even they are being prepared, we need to as well.
Take Care!

Recession, Depression...either way we all suffer.
Well, as much we do not wish to believe we are in a recession, we are.
Of course there are people who saw this coming years ago, and have always penny pinched, and always prepared; but for others who have not worked long enough or not saved, penny pinching is more vital than ever.
I saw this on the New York Times website. The article is called Low Tech Fixes for High Tech Problems.
Other article of note is that Washington State is doing fairly well. In fact their economy is growing versus shrinking.
